The VIMS Blog
Building the operating system for agents
Every layer of VIMS, from local model serving to on-chain agent identity — plus direct answers to the questions people ask.
VIMS: The Convergence Point
This is the first article in a 14-part series exploring the VIMS operating system. Each article links to the others inline. Follow the connections where your curiosity takes you.
Local-First AI: vLLM and Ollama
Part 2 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). Agents should think on your hardware, not someone else's.
The Multi-Runtime Architecture
Part 3 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). VIMS unifies nine agent runtimes.
Security First: HITL and Sandboxing
Part 4 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). The moment an agent processes untrusted input, it is under attack. VIMS was designed for this.
Data and Knowledge: Vector Search and SQL
Part 5 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). Agents need knowledge: structured data, searchable documents, and encoded media, beyond prompts.
MCP Connectors: Client and Server
Part 6 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). The Model Context Protocol is the universal standard for connecting AI agents to external tools. VIMS speaks it in both directions.
P2P Surfaces: Desktop and Browser
Part 7 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). Your data lives on your devices, replicated across peers you trust, no central server required.
Voice and Meeting Agents: Whisper to Room
Part 8 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). VIMS agents listen and speak.
Agent Identity: Nostr Keys and On-Chain NFTs
Part 9 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). An agent without identity is anonymous; an agent with identity is accountable.
Agent Wallets: TBAs and Prepaid Cards
Part 10 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). Agents need money to act autonomously: to buy API access, pay for content, and transact with other agents.
Agent Marketplace: Mint and Monetize
Part 11 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). agent.vims.com is where agents are minted as NFTs, discovered, and monetized.
Flow and Teams: Automate and Collaborate
Part 12 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). VIMS combines visual workflow automation with P2P team collaboration in one integrated surface.
Build Anything: SDK, Coder, Terminal
Part 13 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). VIMS is a platform for building AI-native applications.
The App Marketplace
Part 14 of the [VIMS Blog Network](00-vims-convergence-point). Where finished AI-native applications are published, discovered, and installed.
What is a token bound account (ERC-6551)?
An ERC-6551 token bound account is a smart contract wallet owned by an NFT. The NFT becomes its own wallet: it can hold tokens, pay for things, and sign actions. VIMS uses this to give every AI agent a wallet and an identity in one unit.
How to run vLLM locally
vLLM is a high-throughput inference server for NVIDIA GPUs. Running it locally puts the model on your hardware, your latency, and your cost structure. VIMS integrates it as the default local inference engine.
P2P video calls without an account
Every mainstream video call platform routes your media through servers it owns and gates entry behind an account. A peer-to-peer call does neither: peers find each other directly, media flows directly, and your key is your identity.
What is the Model Context Protocol (MCP)?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI systems to external tools, data sources, and services. It solves the integration problem that has fragmented every agent framework until now.
