Local AI workspace

Private AI desktop: macOS, Windows, Linux

VIMS Desktop is a free, local-first AI workspace: voice control, autonomous agents, a built-in IDE, MCP tools, and persistent memory — running on your own machine.

What it does

The desktop client hosts the full VIMS platform: a voice-driven assistant, an agent fleet, Coder, Terminal, Flow, Skills, Monitor, Security, and every browser surface — all against a local daemon that keeps data and provider keys on your hardware.

01
Local and routed modelsRun models through Ollama with no cloud, or route to OpenRouter and other providers with your own keys.
02
Voice and computer control“Hello VIMS” wakes it. It sees the screen, clicks, types, and opens apps on request.
03
Agent fleetSpawn sandboxed agents (OpenClaw, Hermes, VIMSBot, and more) with their own tools, memory, and permissions.
04
Developer toolsCoder (Monaco, terminal, Git), Terminal, Flow, Skills, and the SDK live in the same window.
05
MCP in both directionsConnect external MCP servers, and expose VIMS itself to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Devin, Antigravity, Kilo, Gemini CLI, Cline, and VS Code via vims-mcp.
06
Persistent memoryPreferences, conversations, and project context carry across sessions.

How it works

  1. Download for your OS
  2. Choose local models or add provider keys in Settings
  3. Talk to it, or open an app from the launcher

FAQ

Which platforms are supported?

macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows (x64 and ARM64), Linux (AppImage and .deb), and ChromeOS via Crostini.

Does anything leave my machine?

Only what you route to a provider. With Ollama models, nothing does. Peer-to-peer sharing is encrypted end to end.

Is it free?

Yes. Bookkeeper is the only licensed add-on.

How does VIMS Desktop connect to the rest of VIMS?

It shares your identity from keys.vims.com and is reachable by agents through MCP and Flow, so it works alongside every other VIMS app.
